By Meor Amri Meor Ayob

Zenith has been a very active in the world of classic cars. For 2016, the brand has issued the El Primero 360’000 VpH Classic Car to represent its commitment to the prestigious world of cars. The choice of El Primero 36’000 VpH as the base model for this tribute is not lost surprising as this design embodies what car enthusiast longed for – reliability, precision and speed. With the Tachymeter scale and high-frequency timing, this watch is all about the racing and style.

The basic dimensions and functionality is similar to the current stocks of El Primero 36’000 VpH watches. With a 42 mm diameter brushed steel case and thickness of 12.75 mm, the anthracite dial features the original anthracite, blue and light grey colours sub-dials. Enhanced by a tachymeter scale, this watch face features a slim red central sweep-seconds hand as well as rhodium-plated, faceted and coated with SuperLuminova SLN C1 luminescent facetted hands and hour-markers.

Around the two pushers, Zenith added a strip of black (top) and red (bottom) paint. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.

The watch is powered by the automatic El Primero 400B Calibre which is made out of 326 components and 31 jewels. Operating at 5 Hertz or 36,000 VpH, this Calibre has a main spring capable of storing a minimum of 50 hours of power reserve.

To complete the whole package, the watch case is paired with a brown calfskin leather strap with protective rubber lining and a stainless steel triple folding clasp or butterfly clasp.

This is a handsome watch. It’s classic lines and its historical pedigree makes it an evergreen icon. I have always coveted a 36,000 VpH and I think this is the one up there as first choice. For more info, please visit zenith-watches.com
