First of all, I’ve been noticing that many unisex watches are coming back these days with the authentic dressy size of 34 mm or 36 mm. I know that some of you would still prefer a proper 40 mm or 42 mm case for a dress watch but those watches pretty much don’t go perfectly with any attire particularly under a cuff for men. The 36 mm case is the basic answer and personally, I like it this small when all I want to do is to be discrete. The watch aficionados will always notice anyway but on the plus side, the less gold the better as it helps lower the price point too.
Okay so even if you’re not so comfortable with a unisex watch, I’ll just go ahead and make my point, just knocking a roller here. We all know that VC watches are extremely pleasing and a smaller one certainly has a place for anyone’s collection. The new Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Small Model 36mm is so slender thanks to its small profile. Combined with a slim profile of 8.1 mm, the result is an elegant and stunning timepiece. This beauty can be shared by couples and for this, it’s such a plus factor. It’s not a very girly watch but it’s definitely an Haute Horlogerie. The 18k pink gold is the deciding factor if you’re really a steel guy though but being polished means it’s not so bad. There is sapphire crystal on both sides where you can even see part of the awesome VC movement. It’s also practical as it has 30m water resistance.
The silvered opaline dial is very nice and we all know that it’s traditional to the brand. I like the minimalism here particularly the date position at 6 o’clock. The hands also come in gold including the indices which create a stunning display of luxury. This is a must have watch if you want to be both discrete and exhibitionist, just imagine rolling your sleeve up as your Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Small Model 36mm slowly comes to view. It’s the best of both worlds, to be honest.
Powering the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Small Model 36mm is the in-house calibre 2450 Q6. This is a decorated movement sporting gold rotor, Geneva stripes, perlage and beveled angles. It has hours, minutes, seconds, and date function. It beats at the typical 4Hz for this caliber and comes with 40 hours of power reserve. The icing on the cake is, of course, the certification from the Hallmark of Geneva.
For the men, you can wear this watch on a dark brown Mississippiensis alligator strap. This leather color is perfect for pink gold as it takes the watch to the masculine side quite further. On the other hand, the ladies would certainly love the purple Mississippiensis alligator shiny leather. The straps come with an 18k pink gold buckle.
