For the Batman fans out there, here are the villainous watches from RJ Watches in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC Entertainment: the RJ Arraw The Joker and the Two Face. These releases continue RJ’s foray into superhero universe since the success of the Skylab Batman watch.
Moreover, each watch is limited to 100 pieces and both The Joker and Two-Face models will be the first collaborations to be presented in RJ’s all-new ARRAW watch case. Powering the Joker is a self-winding chronograph while the Two-Face features a manual winding movement in striking skeleton format.
Ok, so the Joker is a playful watch, presented in a circular satin-brushed 45 mm titanium version of RJ’s new ARRAW case. It features four iconic rubber bumpers, handsome lugs and arrow-shaped hands. It’s crowned by a titanium bezel that is laser engraved with an intentionally chaotic Joker motif.
Each Joker dial is also hand-painted inspired by the Joker’s face resulting to a finish that is intricately airbrushed to evoke the make-up of the villain, we see two black eyes sit at the center of the dial that fades to white at the edges to reflect the Joker’s striking skin tones. Notably, the ARRAW hands on the watch are designed with playing card ‘Aces’ at their tips while the chronograph’s second hand is finished in Joker Purple with a stylised ‘J’ at its base.
Moving on, the RJ Two-Face watch evokes the complicated and conflicted character of Gotham’s City’s district attorney turned villain. The watch pretty much uses a skeleton movement and distressed design cues to evoke the twisted physical and mental state of the mentally deranged criminal. The left side of the watch is neat while the right side exposes the three-layer skeleton movement much like the acid-burnt face of Harvey Dent.
Underneath the circular satin-brushed 45 mm titanium ARRAW case is a movement completed with chamfered edges and straight angles. We also see the four iconic rubber bumpers, beautiful lugs and arrow-shaped hands that are all signatures of ARRAW-based watches. Moreover, the Two-Face watch features a distressed outer bezel where the laser-engraved titanium bezel and calf leather strap are structured along the right-hand side to highlight a clear disparity.
Beneath the anti-reflective sapphire glass are of course the 2 characters of the villain, I like the blending though, from a nice neat dial with a laser-engraved coin that also serves as a turning second hand for the watch. On the back of the titanium case is also a laser-engraved distressing individually numbered as a ‘One of 100 Limited Edition’. Of course, the beauty here lies just below the exhibition caseback showcasing the impressive movement.
Finally, both watches are finished with their own matching straps: like the colorful alligator skin versions in bright green or purple for the Joker or the calf leather strap with a clean and distressed side for the Two Face. Visit RJ Watches here.
