The brainchild of husband and wife duo Richard and Maria Harbring, Habring² is a boutique watch brand from Austria that is well known for making some of the most technically innovative value-driven watches in the micro brand space. With a split second’s chronograph and a dead beat seconds watch already up its sleeve, the brand has now introduced their most complicated watch till date the Perpetual Doppel Chronograph. This new watch combines the power of a Rattrapante and a Perpetual calendar presented in an aesthetically pleasing package.
The face of the Perpetual Doppel chronograph bears a sophisticated and restrained look and has been rendered in a light shade of silver with some nice vertical brushing. Taking center stage are the four subdials at 12,3,6 and 9which display the chronograph minutes/ moon phase, day of the week, month/leap year and the date respectively. With so much information at hand, implementation is the key and Habring seems to have nailed it sizing the subdials almost perfectly maintaining the harmony and legibility of the dial. Surrounding the sub dials are sleek and elegantly styled rose gold Arabic numerals which are followed by a printed minute track on the outer periphery.
Moving on to the case you have a three-part stainless-steel round structure which has a diameter of 43mm. While certainly on the larger side for a dressy watch, the 12 mm thickness of the case should make it sit comfortably on the wrist. The case is well finished and exhibits a nice interplay between brushed and polished surfaces. Physical buttons include a push-pull crown at 3, a chronograph pusher at 2 and a pusher at 10 to control the calendar functions. There is a sapphire crystal on the front as well as the back and the case is water resistant to 30 meters.
Driving the Habring Perpetual Doppel Chronograph is the brand’s hand wound caliber A11P. The movement is based on the A11 caliber, comprises of 27 jewels and offers a power reserve of 48 hours. It has been nicely finished with hand beveling on the bridges, perlage, blued screws and more. The movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal exhibition case back.
The Habring Perpetual Doppel Chronograph is yet another power-packed offering from Habring and at the price point, it sure sounds like a good deal. The watch would retail at EUR 21,500 and would come attached to a black leather strap.
