Mido unveiled its All Dial collection of watches in the year 2002 and now to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this collection the brand has just released the new All Dial 20th Anniversary Limited Edition watch. This new watch features an integrated bracelet design and a face inspired by one of Rome’s most famous monuments, the Colosseum.
The Colosseum is an oval amphitheater in the city of Rome that was built around 1942 years ago. It is considered as the largest standing amphitheater in the world and this new watch tries to capture the architectural beauty of this iconic monument. The grey concrete inspired dial of this watch depicts the ariel view of the Colosseum through its multi-layered construction. To mimic the seating arrangement of an amphitheater Mido uses a thick chapter ring on the outer periphery which has been cleverly implemented using flat grooves on the top and a slanting slope with circular grooves on the inside. The slanting section also features twelve semi-circular arches that house the arched end of the applied lume filled hour indices. Furthermore, to enhance the visual drama, the base dial has been given a nice textured finish. Apart from this, the dial features a day and date display at the 3 o’clock position and time telling is made possible using the blocky lume filled hour and minute hands and a stick style second’s hand.
Crafted from stainless steel the case measures 42mm in diameter and has a thickness of just 10mm which means it should sit comfortably on wide variety of wrists. As the name of the watch suggests, the case is bezel-less and is completed by a distinctive integrated bracelet which features brushed and polished links. Thanks to a threaded crown the case is water-resistant to a healthy 100 meters. There is a sapphire crystal on the front whereas the case-back is closed and has been decorated with a nicely engraved picture of the Colosseum over a frosted base.
Delivering power to this watch is a COSC certified is the ETA 2836-2. An automatic movement, the ETA 2836-2 beats at 4 Hz and offers an autonomy of around 38 hours. The COSC certification means that the movement will keep very accurate time within a strict deviation range of -4 to +6 seconds a day.
The new Mido All Dial 20th Anniversary watch is limited to 2022 pieces and the retail price has been set at USD 1,490.
