Introducing The Hublot Square Bang Watches

Hublot releases its first-ever square Sport watch collection, the Square Bang.

Hublot is a bold and daring brand that is always willing to take its chances. Be it playing around with color or material, the Swiss brand does not shy away and that is what, in my opinion, makes it stand out from its competitors. As a part of its 2022 novelties, Hublot has revealed the first-ever square expression of its popular Big Bang collection.

While it’s a Big Bang at heart, what makes the new Square Bang special is its square-shaped case, which looks rad and muscular. Measuring 42mm in diameter, the case features a layered construction with two plates placed above and below the mid-section. Sitting on the top is a chunky bezel with six exposed screws that add to the sporty and industrial vibe of the watch. Finishing looks good with a nice interplay between brushed and polished surfaces exhibited throughout the case. Water-resistance on offer is a healthy 100 meters, and the case is offered in five different variations which include solid titanium, black ceramic, king gold, titanium with ceramic bezel, and king gold with a ceramic bezel.

The dial looks familiar and features a transparent construction seen on many previously released Big Bang watches. The transparent dial enables the wearer to enjoy a view of the movement from the front of the watch. Placed on the dial are applied lume filled hour markers and a bi-compax layout with a big-eye 60-minute counter at 3. My favorite detail on the Square Bang’s dial is the date execution, wherein the entire date wheel is exposed, and the current date has been placed within the sub-dial at 3. Overall, the dial on the Square Bang is surprisingly legible for what it is.

Powering the watch is the Hublot’s in-house HUB1280 Unico manufacture calibre. This movement operates at 4 Hz and provides an autonomy of around 72 hours when fully wound. The chronograph functionality comprises a column wheel which can be viewed in action at 6 o’clock from the dial side. The movement can be viewed through the exhibition case back as well.

All watches from the new Hublot Square Bang collection come attached to a high-quality integrated rubber strap. Prices for all models are as below:
