Yesterday we showed you the Overseas Tourbillon Skeleton from Vacheron Constantin, a unique and highly acclaimed addition to Vacheron Constantin’s sports range. We’re looking at two more mechanical wonders from the Swiss brand, which finishes off the one-two punch of technical horology and artful craftsmanship.
The first is the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin ref. 4300V/120R-B509. It comes in a pink gold case measuring 41.5mm x 8.1mm thick, so while it may be in Vacheron Constantin’s sporty line of watches, don’t expect to be doing much actual sporting work with it on. It’s more a watch to enjoy after you’re done beating the crap out of your Omega (or another sporty watch of your choosing).
The watch keeps all of the charm and flexibility of the Overseas line with its unique case and bezel design and useful quick-change system, allowing you to choose between the leather or rubber straps or the solid 18k pink gold bracelet. The ultra-thin calibre 1120 QP/1 is on show around the back of the watch with plenty of fine finishing and Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese Cross logo on the rotor. The price is $88,500.
For those who want the same watch but more expensive and less legible, a skeletonised version is available too. It keeps to the same case and strap options as the previously mentioned piece, but now much more of that perpetual calendar goodness is on show. Like in the 4300V/120R-B509, the calibre 1120 QPSQ/1 in this watch (ref. 4300V/120R-B547) is automatic with a power reserve of around 40-hours. Vacheron Constantin says that, as long as the watch is running, the perpetual calendar system and moonphase will not need to be adjusted until 2100. Also, like the previous model, this one is water-resistant to 50m, so not so fast on going swimming with this one. It costs $115,000. Visit Vacheron Constantin here.
