Normally when something is described as ‘wild’, it’s either the typical actions of someone from another culture or the bizarre behaviour of someone who has earned the title of ‘Florida Man’ (and no, being Florida Man is not a culture). In this instance, I can think of nothing better to describe H. Moser & Cie.’s newest debut than ‘wild’ because that’s what this is. The Troggs would surely write a song about this.
Dubbed the Streamliner Tourbillon Bucherer BLUE, this variation of H. Moser & Cie.’s sportiest watch marks the newest addition to the Bucherer Blue line of special edition watches made solely for resale through Bucherer’s retail network.
We’ve seen many variations of watches in the Bucherer Blue collection, but they’re all generally united by the fact that they have a blue dial (handy, given blue is still en vogue). H. Moser & Cie. likes to do things differently, and so the blue on their watch comes with 60 dark blue baguette-cut sapphires, which are utterly flawless and fan out from the centre of the dial. The dial is more of a green-ish brown-ish silvery-ish(?) colour with sunburst finishing and very little else. H.Moser & Cie’s logo is there, but you’d be hard-pressed to see it.
There is, however, a tourbillon on display which, along with the sapphires, is the primary attraction of the piece. The calibre HMC 804 is an automatically wound piece with a 72-hour power reserve and 3Hz beat rate. It’s also got Moser’s double hairspring system, which has two hairsprings, one on each side, to pull the balance wheel from one direction to the other, minimising natural variation and making the watch more accurate. Of course, the tourbillon is the star of the show.
Despite this, the main draw is probably that it’s in their 40mm x 12.1mm case made from, wait for it, stainless steel. Talk about a weird combo. It helps keep the cost down, but the price is still a steep €126,000, and it’s limited to just 18 examples via Bucherer.
