The Mark series of watches from IWC Schaffhausen was first introduced in 1948 for the pilots of the British Royal Air Force. These watches were designed to be highly functional and easy to read, and they quickly became popular with pilots around the world. IWC has continued to produce Mark watches ever since, and they have become one of the most iconic and collectible watch series in the world. IWC has unveiled two new pilot watches to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Mark series. The Mark XX White Dial watches are the latest in a long line of aviation-inspired timepieces from IWC, and they feature a number of updates and improvements over previous models.
The new watches have a 40mm x 10.8mm stainless steel case with a brushed finish and polished accents. The case is water-resistant to 100 meters and features a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, and the glass is secured against displacement by drops in air pressure. The dial is silver-plated with blackened hands and hour markers. The hands and markers are filled with Super-LumiNova for easy reading in low-light conditions.
The new Mark XX watches are powered by the IWC-manufactured Calibre 32111. This automatic movement has a 120-hour power reserve and features a hacking seconds function. The watches come with either a black calfskin leather strap or a five-link stainless steel bracelet.
The IWC Mark XX watches are available now through authorized dealers. The leather strap version is priced at $5,250, while the steel bracelet version is priced at $6,150.
