Renowned for its rich horological heritage, the renowned German watchmaker Glashütte Original has a long and storied history. Among Glashütte Original’s proud history are the fondly remembered 1970s, as well as its inspiring Seventies collection. The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date collection is a line of watches from Glashütte Original that pays homage to the 1970s. The watches in this collection feature a modern take on classic chronograph designs, with vibrant matte lacquered dials, self-winding movements with long power reserves, and stainless steel bracelets or rubber straps. Now Glashütte Original has released two new limited-edition versions of its popular Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date, the Golden Bay and Ocean Breeze.
These watches are inspired by the vibrant colors and free-spirited attitude of the 1970s, and they feature a distinctive matte lacquered dial in either a warm ochre tone or a light gray-blue hue. These two new matt lacquered dial variations introduce a delightful array of colors, enriching the collection with their unique charm and character. The dial of the Golden Bay version is dominated by the warm ochre color, which is complemented by the black subdials and hands. The Ocean Breeze version features a light gray-blue dial with white subdials and hands. Both dials are well-organized and easy to read.
The signature Seventies-style case of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date is made of stainless steel and measures 40mm in diameter. It is water-resistant to 100 meters and features a screw-down crown protected by two guards and a screw-down caseback.
The two pushers, one at 2 o’clock for starting and stopping the chronograph and another at 4 o’clock for activating the flyback mechanism, answer directly to the chronograph mechanism. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal.
The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date is powered by the in-house Caliber 37-02 automatic movement, which has a power reserve of 70 hours and is decorated with Glashütte stripes, perlage, and blued screws.
The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date is available with either a stainless steel bracelet or a rubber strap. The price is €17,200 with the bracelet and €16,000 with the rubber strap.
