This new Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time watch builds on Tudor’s collaboration with the French Navy, specifically their Naval Aviation branch, which gives the piece a unique background. The addition of a GMT feature enables tracking of a second time zone, which is a key aspect for military professionals or travelers.
What good is a military watch without durability to show for it? Hence it’s made with grade 2 titanium which is both lightweight and durable. The case measures 42mm x 12.7mm and 52mm from lug to lug. The fixed lugs are a signature part of the FXD line that enhances durability, but comes at the cost of limitations in bracelet options. The brushed finish gives it a matte look, a sapphire crystal protects the dial from the front, whereas the back of the case is grade 5 titanium, also having an engraving of the French Naval Aviation’s emblem. The watch is water resistant to 200m (600 feet).
Dial is clean and easy to read design where hour, minute and seconds hand are treated with grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova in blue, the GMT hand glows in green. Further improving legibility are the large markers and triangle at 12 o’clock.
Tudor Manufacture Calibre MT5652-U dictate the terms from within. This COSC and METAS certified automatic movement offers GMT function with jump-set hours while offering 56 hours power reserve, beating at 4 Hz.
A fabric strap reflecting French Navy colors comes paired with the new Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time, that’s priced at approximately €4,690 EUR, $4,625 USD, or 4,350 CHF.
