Building on the PR516 collection, Tissot has launched a new automatic chronograph following the hand wound version released in 2024. While the watch’s design is inspired by the 1960s, it brings on the table an updated movement with a refreshed color scheme.
The stainless steel case measures 41mm × 14.19mm, while its thickness is on the higher side, the box shaped sapphire crystal and case profile contribute to a structured presence on the wrist. The bezel is rendered in blue, remains fixed and carries timing scales for additional functionality.
The white dial presents a Tri-Compax layout with blue-rimmed subdials positioned at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, indicating the 30-minute, 12-hour chronograph counters, and continuous seconds respectively. A blue outer track denotes chronograph seconds, while applied hour markers and baton hands are enhanced with Super-LumiNova. The central chronograph seconds hand includes Tissot’s signature “T” counterweight.
Bringing life to the six hands on the dial is the Valjoux A05.231, an automatic chronograph movement based on the Valjoux 7753. Operating at 28,800vph (4Hz), it provides a 68h autonomy and does not include a date function. The Nivachron balance spring enhances resistance to magnetic fields and through the sapphire exhibition case back, the perlage decorated plates and brushed rotor with Tissot branding are visible.
The PR516 Automatic Chronograph is protected from water up to 100m and is fitted with a five row stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished finishes, secured with a butterfly clasp. A quick release system for easy strap changes is another convenient feature. Tissot has priced the watch at €2,145 (including VAT) / $1,895 USD, with availability expected through authorized retailers.
