Corum presents its new Chargé d’Affaires watch. The novelty pays tribute to the initial Chargé d’Affaires model born in 1956 and featured in the very first catalog of the brand. It joins the Corum Heritage collection, among other historical models of the brand, belonging to its rich legacy, including the Golden Tube and the Chinese Hat introduced in 2010.
The new Corum alarm watch will be highly appreciated by devotees of mechanics and those fascinated by the heritage from the past. The novelty has maintained the aesthetic codes of the first 1956 model. Moreover, the watch is animated by a truly exceptional movement – themechanical hand-wound Caliber CO 286 – the same caliber that once powered the original Chargé d’Affaires watch.
The Corum watchmakers have entirely restored the mechanism with help of vintage tools and techniques. They made it correspond to the current quality and finishing standards. Operating at a frequency of 18,000 vph, the movement provides a 46-hour power reserve. It is constructed with two barrels, each with its personal winding crown – the first to be used for controlling the hands, and the second for the alarm.
Besides the central hour, minute and seconds hands, the movements powers the alarmsounding for over 12 seconds on a remarkably clear note. You can drop a glance at the mechanism via the case-back. The sound bridge is engraved with the inscription “1956 – Chargé d’Affaires – 2012”.
The face of the Chargé d’Affaires watch gladdens the eye by its elegance. It reflects the aesthetic perfection of historical watches. The silvery dial is graced by applied hour-markers. The minute track is delicately transferred. The time is indicated by dauphine hour and minute hands, and a baton-type seconds hand. The alarm pointer stands out due to its arrow-like red tip.
The case of the new Corum watch measures 38 mm in diameter – the size of the case has become a little larger if compared to the original model.
The new Corum Chargé d’Affaires watch will be available in a limited and numbered edition of 200 pieces in two variations:
- 150 pieces in 18K gold presented on a black alligator leather strap fitted with a pin buckle;
- 50 pieces in 18K white gold on the same strap.
The timepiece is 30-meter water-resistant.
