In 1984, Ralph Lauren made an indelible imprint on the fashion world with his first safari collection, a cinematic interpretation of a romantic adventure. Today, he continues to expand his signature aesthetic with three new models from the Ralph Lauren RL67 Safari timepiece collection.
The RL67 Tourbillon
This new timepiece is presented with a rare and exclusive complication that has long fascinated watch enthusiasts, the Tourbillon. Playing with contrasts, the RL67 Tourbillon juxtaposes the ruggedness of a sport watch silhouette and gunmetal finish with the luxury of a Tourbillon complication and refined alligator strap.
The RL67 Tourbillon is equipped with a rotating cage housing the balance wheel, hairspring and escapement; this complication remains a symbol of watchmaking excellence. The Tourbillon is housed in the manufacture RL67 self-winding mechanical 13 ¼’’’ movement featuring a power reserve of 38 hours.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the steel of the case undergoes a chemical and thermal treatment that increases its durability and transforms the steel’s silver sheen into a rugged blackened finish. This technique requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and expert craftsmanship worthy of the most advanced watchmaking expertise. Finished by hand, each timepiece and its components—case, bezel, crown, buckle, buttons and screws—are sandblasted, brushed, polished and chamfered.
The RL67 Chronometer
Possessing a uniquely vintage look, the RL67 Chronometer is distinguished by a dial with cream-colored Arabic numerals, boldly sized at 6 and 12 o’clock, and an orange seconds hand. With a 45mm diameter case, this new timepiece equipped with the RL300-1 automatic movement, features an aged steel case made possible by a technical treatment that transforms the blackened steel into a sublime patina. This timepiece is beautifully finished with the collection’s signature faded olive canvas strap.
The RL67 Automotive Chronograph
Interpreting Ralph Lauren’s Automotive timepiece through the lens of his safari collection, the RL67 Automotive contrasts an innovative titanium resin case that recalls one of Ralph Lauren’s classic cars.
The RL67 Automotive Chronograph features an innovative material which is mostly used in aviation for its lightweight and extreme strength, thus enhancing the cutting-edge characteristics of this new watch.
This 45mm all-terrain timepiece reflects a masculine and bold statement that offers the ideal balance of strength and comfort. The RL67 Automotive Chronograph is powered by a manufacture RL751A/1 self-winding mechanical movement. Displaying a classic dial inlaid with elm burlwood, which also adorns the Sporting collection’s legendary Automotive timepiece.
