The 1815 Rattrapante arrives in platinum.

A. Lange & Söhne is a watchmaking house which always produced timepieces rich in complications. Some of the complications to their credit are the three classic high complications, namely the minute repeater, the rattrapante chronograph, and the perpetual calendar. In 2020, Lange created a stand-alone rattrapante chronograph in the form of 1815 Rattrapante Honey Gold. A new 1815 Rattrapante has just been released by Lange, this time in platinum and in a 200 pieces limited edition run.

The new 1815 Rattrapante Chronograph combines in one watch what A.Lange & Söhne has already done in 2022; the first titanium watch, Grand Lange 1 and Richard Lange minute repeater, fused all of these into one watch. While the first series of 1815 Rattrapantes was crafted in Honey Gold had a black dial with gold hands, the new 1815 Rattrapante Chronograph is constructed in platinum instead. The platinum case with solid silver measures 41.2mm x 12.6mm in diameter and height, respectively. The bezel has a tachometer scale in black print. The case offers a 30m water-resistance.

While the registers on a chronograph dial are typically arranged in a horizontal plane, ALS has diverged from convention and they present a bi-compax chronograph configuration that is vertically stacked. The dial offers registers for 30-minute timer at 12 o’clock and running seconds at 6 o’clock and a railway track minute scale on the outer periphery. The argenté dial hosts the blued steel hands and ALS has opted for printed numerals in black color as opposed to the appliqué numerals of the 2020 model. The primary hand of the two rattrapante chronograph hands is rhodium-plated, while the flyback hand is blue for distinguishing contrast.

There is no need to introduce the 36-jewel, 21,600 vph calibre L101.2 movement, which also features a 58-hour power reserve. The untreated German silver bridges, which are visible through the sapphire display caseback, are created in addition to several gold components. The famous Glashütte stripes design is made using straight graining. A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Chronograph Platinum comes paired on a black hand-stitched alligator leather with prong buckle in 950 platinum. It is available officially on a ‘price on request’ basis.
