Arnold & Son Unveils The New HM Steel Amber Watch

Like a mason with stone, Arnold & Son sculpts time in amber.

Arnold & Son enters the gemstone dial trend with the HM Steel Amber, even if amber technically falls into the semi-precious category; it doesn’t deter from the regal aesthetic the amber grants it.

At 39.50mm in diameter and 7.82mm in height, the stainless steel case strikes a balance between elegance and wearability, sitting comfortably thin on the wrist. There are no unnecessary design flourishes on the case, keeping the focus on the dial while keeping the watch wearable for a range of wrist sizes. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.

The face of the HM Steel Amber is a real aesthetic feat. Far from the traditional metal or enamel dials, each model is a unique piece, fashioned from a fossilized block of Baltic amber more than 30 Million years old. The organic nature of the amber makes every dial different, with no two sharing the exact same pattern. Its color shifts between warm golden hues and deep earthy tones in varying light. A printed minute track with small black dots provides subtle functionality, while blued steel sword hands stand in contrast against the dial.

The in-house Calibre A&S1001 is a 30mm × 2.70mm manual-winding movement, running at 21,600vph with a 90 hour power reserve. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it features Geneva stripes, chamfered edges, and blued screws.

The watch comes on an imperial-green alligator strap with a papaya-yellow lining, secured by a steel pin buckle. Limited to 38 pieces, it’s priced at CHF 19,500 and available through Arnold & Son’s retailers.
