Arnold & Son Unveils The Ultrathin Tourbillon Platinum And Gold Watches

Arnold & Son adds a colorful flair to its Ultrathin collection.

As a part of its new offerings for 2022, Arnold & Son have expanded its Ultra-thin Tourbillon collection with two new watches. Featuring a textured blue or green dial, packed inside a gold or platinum case these new watches bring a colorful flair to the elegant collection.

The main talking point with these new watches is the visually arresting dial. Presented in a rich blue or deep green color, the textured dials have been created using a manufacturing technique known as ‘Cosmic Grene’. To achieve the sandblasted finish, gold powder mixed with aluminum sparkles is placed on the dial, and the desired color is then applied. Regardless of the technique, the outcome is stunning and that is what matters in my opinion. Color aside, the layout comprises twin circular displays at 12 and 6. The display on top houses classic-looking Roman numerals placed on a white base with centrally mounted thermally blued hour and minute hands. The bottom half gives a great view of the Tourbillon.

The case on both watches measures a modest 41.5mm in diameter, which combined with the angular lugs, should make the watch wear comfortably on a wide variety of wrists. The case has been crafted from 18-carat red gold on the blue dial variation and platinum 950 on the green dial variant. Water-resistance is limited to just 30 meters which, while on the lower side, sounds fine for a dressy watch like this.

Ticking inside the Ultrathin Tourbillon is the brand in-house manually wound A&S8300 calibre, which is just 2.7mm thick and is responsible for the slender profile of the watch. It features a variable-inertia balance with inertia blocks to ensure more stable calibration over time and offers a healthy power reserve of around 100 hours when fully wound. The movement is beautifully decorated using Geneva stripes, and blued screws and features a rear tourbillon bridge in 3N yellow gold that matches the gear train and stands out from the appearance of the rest of the calibre. The movement can be enjoyed through the sapphire case back.

The new Arnold & Son Ultra-thin Tourbillon watches are limited to 28 pieces per model. The red gold variant comes attached to a blue alligator strap and will retail for CHF 73,300, whereas the Platinum model comes mated to a green alligator strap and is priced at CHF 85,100. Visit Arnold & Son here.
