Baselworld 2017: Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante Watch

By Keith Bombrys

Breitling is a very well known, name in the watch world. One of their biggest pieces is their Navitimer collection. Baselworld 2017 is the perfect platform for the new release of this old staple. Breitling just wouldn’t be Breitling without the Navitimer collection and the Rattrapante is no exception. Breitling always brings an original yet classic spin on each of their Navitimer releases.

The biggest feature of this new piece is the addition of the split-second chronograph, also known as the Rattrapante complication. The Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante is powered by the new in-house COSC Caliber B03 automatic split-second chronograph movement. The split-second mechanism is made up of 28 parts that are all designed together to be completely removed if need to be, which is helpful for repairs and servicing. The B03 split-second chronograph is specially designed to use parts which are much easier to make and produce than any of the past models.

This beautiful piece is available to the public in either steel or 18 ct. gold. Both have the elegant and stylish look that all luxury watch collectors are looking for. The gold variation comes with either a black leather or rubber strap. The steel variation is matched perfectly with the padded brown crocodile straps. The brown  of the piece is really brought out by each variation of straps.

Although many find Navitimer to be a very “busy” piece, but the amount of functionality and sheer style of the watch is simply astonishing. The seconds, minutes, and hours timers found on the piece are at three o’ clock, nine o’clock, and six o’clock respectively, the date can be found on the piece between four and five o’clock, and of course the navitimer dial around the edge of the piece really tops off the luxurious look of the watch.

This 45mm wide base provides the watch with the best possible options to display all of these features. The watch operates at 4Hz and has a power reserve of 70 hours. The steel variation will hit the market at a price of $11,090, while the 18 ct. gold variation will cost $32,895. Both are very steeply priced, but both are more than worth the price tag for those high-end luxury collectors. The gold variation will be limited to only 250 pieces available to the public which is even more of an incentive too go out and order your latest Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante today.
