As a part of its Baselworld 2019 novelties, Chopard has introduced two new variants of its L.U.C Chrono One Flyback chronograph. Chopard’s L.U.C line of watches comprises of exquisite looking watches which are crafted using the finest materials in the brand’s manufacture in Fleurier, Switzerland and these new offerings are no different. Available with either a finely finished Titalyt or a stainless steel case these new watches add a casual and sporty flair to the existing Chrono one collection.
L.U.C Chrono One Flyback Steel (Ref. 168596-3001)
The case on this watch is made out of stainless steel and is well sized coming in at a diameter of 42mm and a bearing a thickness of 13.2 mm. As the dimensions suggest the case should sit comfortably on a variety of wrist sizes especially when compared to the 44mm case of the current L.U.C one Chrono watches. Quality of finish is top notch and there is some nice interplay between brushed and polished surfaces on display. The case is water resistant to 100 meters and features a sapphire glass on both front and rear. To complement the stainless steel case the dial on this watch has been rendered in a dark grey shade with some nice vertical brushing throughout. It features a familiar tricompax layout with big chronograph registers at 3 and 9, a relatively small seconds counter at 6, a tachymeter scale on the outer periphery and a neatly tucked date window between 4 and 5. The hours have been presented using faceted and applied arrow shaped markers along with an applied Arabic numeral at 12 for better orientation. Time can be read using the unique Dauphine fusée style hands which have been filled with luminous paint to aid low light visibility. Powering the watch is Chopard’s in-house automatic movement the L.U.C Calibre 03.03-L. The movement features a Flyback function, operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a power reserve of 60 hours. The movement has been beautifully decorated and can be viewed through the sapphire crystal glass back. The watch would come attached to a slate-grey leather strap and would be limited to a production run 250 pieces.
Similar in dimensions to steel version, this new variant of the Chrono one Flyback is the sportier out of the newly launched duo and features a dark Matt finished case made out of Titalyt. Titalyt is a material which is used extensively in the aerospace and the medical industry and is known for its hypoallergenic properties. Also, as the case uses titanium as its base material it would be lighter as compared to the steel variant leading to better wrist comfort. As for the dial, the layout remains exactly the same but has been presented in a military green shade which combined along with dark case gives the watch a masculine appeal. The watch is once again powered by the L.U.C Calibre 03.03-L which can be seen in all its glory through the display case back. The watch would be limited to only 100 pieces and would come attached to a double-sided brown calf leather strap.
Prices on both the pieces are yet to be announced and we will update this space once we have the required information.
