A short while back Bell & Ross introduced the BR V2-92, a handsome sports watch with a military green dial. And now, the brand is making another new addition to its vintage collection. Featuring a case made from bronze, a blue sunburst dial and some nice golden touches, the BR V2-94 BR V2-94 Aéronavale Bronze is a modern retro-inspired sports chronograph.
The most attention-grabbing aspect of the BR V2-94 Aéronavale is its well-executed and highly legible dial. Presented in a deep shade of blue with a nice sunburst finish, the dial features a well-balanced twin register layout. At 3 is a large running’s seconds counter and at 9 is a 30-minute chronograph counter, and both have been nicely recessed to provide a sense of depth to the dial. Surrounding the registers are applied hour markers which are a combination of batons and Arabic numerals at 12 and 6, a white printed minutes/ chronograph seconds track and a neat circular date window tucked away between 4 and 5. Interestingly all applied elements, the baton-style hands and a majority of the text have been rendered in a golden tone to lend a retro vibe and provide a good contrast against the blue background.
The case of the BR V2-94 Aéronavale is made of CuAl7Si2 bronze and measures just 41mm in diameter, a great size for a chronograph. Sitting on top of the case is a fixed bezel with a blue aluminum insert and just like the dial, the markings on the bezel have been presented in gilt to provide a vintage flavor. Flanking the right side of the case are 2 screw-down chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 and a screw-down crown at 3, all of which would combine to ensure that the watch is water-resistant to 100 meters.
Driving the watch is the caliber BR – CAL301, an automatic modular chronograph movement based on the ETA 2894-2. It operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of around 42 hours when fully wound. The movement can be viewed using the sapphire case back.
The Bell & Ross BR V2-94 Aéronavale Bronze is limited to just 999 pieces and would be available to purchase on either a blue canvas strap or a blue calfskin leather strap. The retail price has been set at EUR 4,990.
