Capitalizing on the ongoing heritage trend, Breitling released the Superocean Heritage 1957 Capsule collection last year to pay a tribute to the original 1957 Superocean Heritage. Now, the brand has expanded the 1957 Capsule collection with a slew of new colorful watches that feature summery pastel-colored dials packed inside a modestly sized case.
Summer is at its peak, and the light and airy pastel hues on the new Superocean Heritage 1957 Pastel Paradise watches are ready to cool things down. Offered in Mint green, Aquamarine, Iced Latte, and white, all dials are pleasing to the eyes and look like a perfect match for balmy weather. And just in case you find the four core colors of this new collection to be a little subtle for your taste, the bright and punchy rainbow variation with multicolored markers might tickle your fancy.
All dials except the white variation feature a sunburst finish for enhanced light play. Colors aside, the layout on these watches remains almost identical to their 42mm elder cousins. Bold and distinctive applied lume-filled indices comprise the hour index, which is accompanied by a black printed minute track. The lack of a date window helps in keeping the symmetry of the dial intact. And finally, the triangle-tipped hour hand in conjunction with the sword style minute hand and the lollipop style seconds hand makes time telling quick and easy.
Crafted from stainless steel, the case on these watches measures a compact 38mm in diameter. Now, while 38mm isn’t exactly small, given the choice of colors on offer, Breitling is targeting the female audience with this new collection. That said, I can very well imagine some men, especially with small wrists, enjoying some of these watches. The case design remains identical to the previously released 1957 capsule watches and features some visually intriguing details that include the dial color-matched stadium-style bezel on top and the elegant slender lugs. The case is water-resistant to 100 meters, which is taken care of using twin gaskets, in the absence of a threaded crown.
Ticking underneath the closed case back of these watches is the caliber Breitling 10. This is a self-winding movement that operates at 4 Hz and offers a respectable power reserve of around 42 hours.
The new Breitling Superocean Heritage 1957 Pastel Paradise watches would be accompanied by matching calfskin leather straps. The Rainbow variation is priced at USD4,770, whereas the remaining references will retail at USD4,630.
