From making blingy and bold timepieces to making wearable watches inspired by its rich historic past, Breitling has made a strong comeback in the past couple of years. The brand’s latest offering from the brand is a trio of COSC certified colorful Top Time chronographs that pay a tribute to the fast and furious classic sports cars from the 1960s. Let’s have a quick look.
Top Time Chevrolet Corvette
Presented with a bright sporty red dial, this watch seeks inspiration from the second-generation Chevrolet Corvette which was produced between 1963 and 1967 nicknamed the “StingRay”. Featuring a low profile, a curvaceous aerodynamic body, and those futuristic hidden headlights the Corvette “StingRay” is a sexy classic. Capturing the sporty spirit of the Corvette, the dial on this watch proudly bears the Corvette logo at 12 and has been sprinkled with orange and yellow touches that are visible on the chronograph hands and the tachymeter scale on the outer periphery. Black sunken sub-resisters along with printed lumed markers offer an excellent contrast to the red background. The steel case is fully polished and measures 42mm in diameter with a reasonable thickness of around 13.6mm, offering a water resistance of 100 meters. Ticking underneath the closed case back of this watch is the Breitling calibre 25, which operates at 4 Hz, and offers a power reserve of around 42 hours. This watch is completed by a black leather racing style perforated strap.
Top Time Mustang
If you are an automobile enthusiast, Mustang is a name that would immediately ring a bell. Produced from 1964 to 1969, was compact, affordable, and sporty. With some models suited to families and others ideal for race-focused sports stars, it was a true icon popular among rock stars and actors. To re-crate, the sporty spirit of the Mustang Breitling has gone with a deep racing green dial on this watch. The dial details along with the case and the movement all are identical to that of the Top Time Corvette. One obvious difference is that the dial this time around displays the Mustang horse logo at 12. This watch is accompanied by a brown rally-style leather strap.
Top Time Shelby Cobra
Introduced in 1962, the Shelby Cobra was a sports car that was blisteringly fast and combined British chassis design with American racing engineering. For this particular reference, Breitling has gone with a vibrant blue dial that is highlighted by bright red accents. The twin white registers look balanced and offer a good contrast to the blue background. Another noteworthy change on this model is that the Shelby branding has been moved to 6. The stainless steel maintains the geometry of the other two watches from this new collection but comes in at a more wearable 40mm in diameter. Ticking inside is the Breitling calibre 41 that operates at 4 Hz and offers an autonomy of around 42 hours. This watch will come attached to a brown racing-style leather strap.
The new Breitling Top Time Chronographs are non-limited, and the retail price for each reference is $5,500.
