Bulgari has established itself as a strong contender in the world of horology in recent times. Not only has the brand released distinctive high-end watches as part of the Octo Finissimo collection, but it has also worked on making its catalog more diversified and approachable with the release of the Bulgari Aluminiun watches. The new Bulgari Aluminium Chronograph Ducati Special Edition brings a bold and colorful twist to the Aluminiun collection.
Inspired by the bright and colorful Ducati motorcycles, the dial of this watch has been presented in a punchy red color, which exhibits some hues of orange as well. The familiar tri-compax layout with a date at 4:30 seen on previous Aluminiun chronographs has been carried over to this new model. However, to complement the sporty theme, the hands of the registers have been painted red. The outer periphery of the dial features an hour/minute track, which has also received a few updates. While the regular Aluminium chronograph uses thick printed rectangles except for the numeral at 12 to indicate hours, the Ducati Special Edition also gets numerals at 10 and 11, making it stand out from its siblings. Furthermore, this model also gets white lume plots at intervals of five, which along with the lume-filled hands, should make it easy to read the time in dimly lit situations.
One of the things that immediately draws attention to the Bulgari Aluminum is the integrated case and bracelet, and thankfully nothing has changed in this regard. The case measures 40mm in diameter and is constructed using a mix of materials. The main body is made from Aluminium, the signature bezel on top uses rubber, and the DLC coated case back with Bulgari – Ducati branding is made of Titanium. Overall, the case is kept lightweight to enhance wrist comfort, and you also get 100 meters of water resistance should you wish to jump into the pool with this watch on the wrist.
Hidden beneath the closed case back is the Bulgari calibre BVL 130, an automatic modular chronograph based on the tried and tested ETA 2894. It operates at 4 Hz and provides an autonomy of around 42 hours.
The new Bulgari Aluminium Chronograph Ducati Special Edition watch is limited to 1000 pieces, and the retail price has been set at EUR 5,000.
