This year’s Mille Miglia race is going to be marked by a special timepiece from Chopard, who has been the official timekeeper of this race since 1988. The brand new Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale is a sleek and sophisticated watch for the diehard motorsport enthusiast.
The Grigio Speciale will measure at 43mm across the case, while the height is set at 11.43mm. The materials of choice for this watch are a matte titanium case along with an anthracite dial with a stippled finishing. The dial presents in a sporty fashion with “Rosso Corsa” central hand that is tipped with red, and a power reserve indicator on the left side of the dial that is marked by an automotive themed gauge that reads both empty and full. It is worth noting that the power reserve in question is worth a full 60 hours. Finally on the right hand of the dial we see the date window, which is framed in red with “1000 Miglia” written in white within this red border.
A 0-60 bezel accents the edges of the watch, while black luminescent material on the applied numerals and markers provide low light legibility. Overall, this is a very sporty release from Chopard that compliments the race they have been a part of for several decades.
The movement is a COSC certified automatic caliber 01.08-C. This movement operates at a steady 4Hz, is comprised of 251 individual components, and is visible due to its sapphire caseback. Water resistance is 100 meters, so it will stand up to a rainy day at the track. The watch is fitted to a gray cordura strap, and the Grigio Speciale will be limited to 1,000 pieces with an MSRP of $8,220.
Refined and sleek as the cars that are part of the race, the Mille Miglia release this year from Chopard is a wonderful limited release that any avid motor enthusiast should check out. For more info, visit Chopard online.
