Citizen has been on a roll recently and has released quite a few interesting timepieces including the new Iconic nature-inspired limited-edition quartz collection and the bold and rugged Promaster Mechanical Diver 200M NB6004. The latest addition to the Citizen catalog comes in the form of the 200m Promaster Mechanical Diver, a vintage-inspired dive watch that pays a tribute to the Citizen Challenge dive watches from the 1970s.

The new 200m Promaster Mechanical Diver bears striking familiarity to its vintage inspiration in most aspects and manages to emit a string retro vibe with a reliable modern build. For instance, the case design is quite similar to the vintage challenge divers this watch is based on and comes with nice chunky lugs, a grippy crown at 3, and a thick ink-directional bezel on top. The case remains almost true to the vintage model and comes in at a slightly larger 41mm, in diameter. However, the case this time around is thinner than the older version and is around 12.5mm thick, which is quite decent for a modern dive watch. Furthermore, the case has been crafted from Titanium instead of steel which should make it wear lighter and more comfortable on the wrist. In terms of water resistance, you get a healthy 200 meters for those deep dives.

The dial, like the case, sticks to the retro theme. You get applied chunky lume-filled rectangles for the hours, a white printed minute track, and a date window at the 3 o’clock position. Finally, you get the divisive Mercedes hands which are seen on many Rolex professional watches. The seconds hand is of lollipop style and is also filled with luminous paint to offer maximum legibility in dimly lit situations. The dial so being offered in two flavors: black and blue.

Ticking inside this new watch is the brands’ in-house automatic 9051 movement that operates at 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of around 42 hours when fully wound. The movement is regulated to work within a deviation range of -20 to +10 seconds and is antimagnetic 16000 A/m.

The new Citizen 200m Promaster Mechanical Diver can be purchased for EUR 650 on a rubber strap and EUR 750 on a bracelet.
