Shortly before Baselworld, Girard-Perregaux introduced the entirely revamped Hawk collection, comprising the renewed Sea Hawk and the new Chrono Hawk (see here for a full report). And during Baselworld GP surprised everyone with the new Hawk Ceramic, a ceramic version of both the Sea Hawk and the Chrono Hawk. The stealthy looking, hi-tech, hypo-allergic and heat-reflecting ceramic case ups the hardness of the case from 180 HV on the Vickers scale to 1400 HV. That’s super scratch resistant!
The Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk Ceramic pièce unique for Only Watch 2013, adds a silvery palladium bezel to the smooth velvety looks of the matt black ceramic case. The honey-comb patterned dial is inspired by the bridges of GP’s iconic tourbillon watches like the Tourbillon Bi-Axial (see here for the version in Tantalum and here for the Ti DLC version). Surrounding the patterned black dial is a red flange with inset markers at every hour (or 5 minutes). The two sub dials feature a red scale as well; the left is the 30-minute chronograph register and the right sub dial is for the running seconds. Both seconds hands (central chronograph seconds hand and small running seconds hand at 3 o’clock) are executed in red as well. The red and white represents the colors of Monaco’s flag; Monaco being host of the Only Watch auction.

The base caliber GP03300, with additional chronograph module on top, is visible through the sapphire crystal in the case back. By adding the in-house chronograph module, the actual reference of the movement is now caliber GP03300-0073. The robust movement combined with the scratch resistant ceramic case makes this one of the sportiest entries for the Only Watch 2013 auction.
This unique piece for the Only Watch Charity Auction 2013 comes on a rubber strap, with a black alligator leather top layer and red stitching. The folding buckle is in black PVD coated titanium with a ceramic cover.
