Baselworld 2018: Graham Chronofighter Superlight Carbon Watches – Now In New Colours

By Carl Scutt

Graham is another historic British brand and sister company to Arnold and Son, both earning their distinguished place in the Watchmaking space. Originally founded by George Graham, all Graham watches are chronographs and usually left handed as traditional British racing fashion dictates.

The motorsports-inspired Chronofighter Superlight have 3 additional versions in 3 color schemes. They are instantly recognizable from their chronograph pushers known as the ‘Bomb Time style’ or the “espresso machine lever”, making them something of a signature design.

The company has been busy in recent years sponsoring many an illustrious sporting event from Brawn GP Formula One team, Swiss Porsche Cup, Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, Baja 1000, GT Asia Series, Spengler Cup, Silverstone circuit, Swiss Gurnigel Hill Race and the Club Porsche Romand. Quite an exhaustive list I think you will agree?

This all means the brand has gained popularity in a very short time due to clever management and genuine product appeal from this La Chaux-de-Fonds based Watchmaker.

The new models are based on the Chronofighter Superlight Carbon that we all know and love for its amazing ability to remain flamboyant, with its oversized 47mm case and massive chronograph pusher and still managing to remain comfortable. This trick is, of course, made possible with the use of ultra-light 3K Carbon composite material to build the case, bezel, and pusher.

So, what’s the fuss about you may be asking? Well, the features that differentiate the new from the old are the vivid color schemes that scream for attention. Available in three color versions and accompanied by new colorful straps, the new kids on the block are not for the faint-hearted, although for those who demand something a little more forgiving the black version could be the way forward.

Beneath the skin is the Caliber G1747 containing 25 jewels with a self-winding chronograph running at 4Hz that gives a healthy 48 house power reserve. The movement can be viewed through the smoked crystal display caseback. The domed front scratch resistant crystal equipped with double anti-reflective coating, gives this piece a 100m water resistance, which is enough for anyone.

If that was not enough, the straps come with Graham signed pin buckles made of 3K Carbon composite material making this package fun, if you like that sort of thing. For more info, visit Graham Watches online.
