Summer season is on and all you need to beat the heat is your favorite summer cooler and a bright and colorful watch such as the new Hublot Unico Summer Purple Limited Edition on your wrist.
Hublot is one of the few brands that has always been enthusiastic about making use of innovative materials and unusual color choices. With the new Unico Summer Limited Edition, Hublot has draped the entire watch in a striking shade of purple. The 42mm case is made using lightweight aluminum, which is anodized, satin-finished, and polished. The purple color is achieved using a process that guarantees outstanding durability and protection from scratches and impacts. The case is water-resistant to a healthy 100 meters which is expected from a good sports watch.
On the dial side, you get a familiar bi-compax display that has been laid over a transparent sapphire dial which gives the wearer a great view of the mechanical internals of this watch. The oversized counter at 3 keeps track of the chronograph minutes, whereas the relatively small counter at 3 tracks the running seconds. The purple theme continues over to the dial as well with the applied hour index, the sub-dials, and even the hands presented in purple. The hands and the hour indices have been filled with luminous paint to ensure good low light visibility. My favorite detail on the dial is the date complication which has been thoughtfully integrated within the chronograph minute counter. Completing the dial is a slanting chapter ring on the outer periphery for tracking the minutes and chronograph seconds.
Powering the watch is Hublot’s in-house HUB1280 Unico manufacture automatic movement. Ticking at 4 Hz, HUB1280 is a column wheel-based chronograph movement that offers a healthy power reserve of around 72 hours when fully wound. The movement exhibits a nice industrial finish and is visible from both the front as well as the back.
The new Hublot Unico Summer Purple Limited edition comes attached to a Purple Velcro strap, and an additional purple rubber strap is also included in the package. The watch is limited to 200 pieces and will retail for CHF 20,900.
