No one will argue that HYT has mastered the art of liquid time-telling, and their newest watch, the S1 Titanium “Japan Limited Edition”, only supports this line of thought. This watch, limited to 8 examples, boasts an open-worked dial that reveals the intricate hydromechanics that set HYT apart.

The S1 Titanium demonstrates how a truly modern watch design looks like with information displayed by means of hydromechanics over a skeletonized dial. The case measures 45.3 x 17.2mm and is crafted from silver and black-coated titanium. The angular lines and ergonomic shape should make wearing it a comfortable experience and a snuggly fit on any wrist.

As always with HYT watches, it’s the dial where things get really interesting. The anthracite DLC and rhodium-plated brass provide backdrop to the signature HYT hydromechanics. The dual bellows at 6 o’clock work in tandem to compress and expand, transporting the liquids through the capillaries. The point where the black liquid meets the transparent one, is your current hour. The whole process is reset for another 12 hours cycle when the liquid has reached the end. Arabic numerals on a grey honeycomb chapter ring are quite sporty, while the central minutes hand and power reserve indicator feature black gold with white Super-LumiNova accents.

Powering the S1 Titanium is the manual-winding Calibre 501-CM movement, comprising 352 intricately finished parts and beating at 28,800vph. It provides a good 72-hour power reserve.

The S1 Titanium “Japan Limited Edition” comes with two strap options: a black rubber strap and a light grey Velcro strap. Priced at CHF 58,000 and limited to 8 examples, it’s available exclusively in Japan.
