It’s that time of the year once again ladies and gentlemen. In the next week or so all the major names from the world of horology would take the wraps off their 2021 novelties. For now, let’s have a quick look at a few new stunning Breitling Premier chronographs.
Breitling introduced the current modern avatar of the Premier in 2018. Featuring a highly legible and clutter-free bi-compax dial, a wearable 42mm case, and a modern in-house caliber, the Premier chronographs stand midway between the Superocean and Navitimer collection offering consumers a fine blend of sporty and elegant aesthetics. The new 2021 Premier watches keep the overall design DNA of the collection intact bringing forth a few noteworthy updates. There are three new models on offer and each model is being offered in two different dial color and case combinations. The dials on all these watches are characterized by applied Arabic numerals and syringe style hour and minute hands. Additional functionality comes in the form of a complete calendar and Rattrapante capability. Furthermore, like all recently released Premier chronographs, these new watches come with cases that are water-resistant to 100 meters and feature an exhibition case back to view the beautiful manufacture calibers underneath. And finally, all watches come attached to matching alligator leather straps.
Breitling Premier B09 Chronograph 40
Offered in a 40mm familiar-looking case, the Breitling Premier B09 is the more compact cousin of Premier B01. Not only has the width reduced, but the case is also thinner and shorter in length coming in at 13mm tall and 47.6mm lug to lug, making it easy to accommodate on smaller wrists. The case is machined from stainless steel or solid Red gold. Ticking inside is the Breitling in-house B09 caliber that operates at 4Hz and offers an autonomy of around 70 hours. The dial on the stainless-steel version is an uncommon matt Pistachio green shade, which is a bold decision from Breitling as this is going to the variant for the masses. It is undoubtedly a color, but I feel that Breitling should have offered a safe color choice as well. The Red gold case version on the contrary gets red gold hands and numerals along with a nice cream color dial making for a nice warm combination. The B09 stainless steel is priced at USD 8,400 whereas the Red Gold model would cost USD 20,200.
Breitling Premier B15 Duograph 42
The Breitling Premier B15 is the more complicated cousin of the B09. While it retains the balanced twin-register setup of the B09, the B15 is a split second’s chronograph or what is commonly known as a Rattrapante in the world of horology. As can be seen in the pictures, this watch comes with not one but 2 chronograph hands which can be used in conjunction to track multiple time intervals instead of just one, which is the case with a regular chronograph. To make this mechanism work, the B15 is powered by a Breitling’s in-house B15 caliber that is hand-wound, operates at 4 Hz, and offers a power reserve of around 70 hours. Once again like the B09, you get two choices here: a 42mm stainless steel case with a rich sunburst blue dial and a more formal red gold case with a deep black dial. The watch costs USD 10,250 in steel and USD 22,850 in Red gold.
Breitling Premier B25 Datora 42
The Breitling Premier B25 Datora is the most functionally rich and visually complex among the new Premier releases. To begin with, this watch gets a tri-register layout with the counters at 3 and 9 representing the chronograph minutes and running seconds, and the counter at 6 has been used to display the date along with the moon phase. There two rectangular windows underneath the marker at 12 to display the day of the week and the month of the year. Ticking inside this watch is the Breitling B25 caliber, which is a heavily modified version of the Valjoux 7750. The movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of around 48 hours. The Breitling B25 Datora 42 can be purchased with a beautiful salmon dial packed inside a 42mm stainless steel case for USD 12,950 or with a cream dial packed inside a Red gold case for USD 25,650.
