Cuervo y Sobrinos adds two new sharp dress watches to its Historiador collection.

Cuervo y Sobrinos is an interesting watch brand that was born in Cuba and is now a part of the Swiss watch industry. The Historiador collection from Cuervo y Sobrinos comprises watches that are a true reflection of its art deco roots. Recently, the brand expanded its Historiador collection with two sharp and elegant Asturias Pequeños Segundos watches.

Like all other members of the Historiador family, what immediately grabs attention on the new Asturias Pequeños Segundos watches is the striking case design. Made using 316l stainless steel, the case features a round central container that is attached to angular horn-style lugs to create a strong visual impact. The fully polished case measures a modest 40mm in diameter and has a thickness of just 11.2mm, which should make it slide under the cuffs with relative ease. The case offers just 50 meters of water resistance which is acceptable for a casual dressy watch.

Moving to the dial, you get a classy and clean display. Presented in silver or blue color, the dial features a nice sunburst effect that gives the watch a more premium and formal outlook. Placed on top of the sunburst dial are polished applied markers with an applied brand’s logo at the 12.

There is a recessed sub-dial at 6 to track the running second’s and completing the dial are the well-proportioned hour and minute hands. Thankfully the dial is devoid of a date complication which I think would have disturbed the harmony of the layout.

Flipping the watch over reveals the calibre CyS 5158 that powers these watches. Based on the trustworthy Sellita SW261-1, the calibre CyS 5158 operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers an autonomy of around 38 hours when fully wound. The movement has been nicely decorated using blued screws and a custom rotor with Geneva stripes and an applied Cuervo y Sobrinos logo. The movement can be enjoyed through the sapphire case back.

The new Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Asturias Pequeños Segundos watches come attached to a high-quality deep blue shell cordovan strap, and the retail price is set at CHF 3,200.
