The Czapek Genève Place Vendôme Complicité is a unique and courageous watch that reinterprets the double escapement combination, a rare complication in wristwatches. Two independent escapements beat at their own pace, with any rate variations balanced by a differential. This complex mechanism is beautifully featured on the dial side, which is open-worked and features a champlevé enamel ring created in collaboration with Donzé Cadrans.
The Only Watch edition, part of the esteemed Place Vendôme collection, was designed even before the production models and features a 41.8mm stainless steel case with an exquisite interplay of brushed and polished surfaces. It has cutaway lugs, a domed sapphire crystal, and a sapphire caseback. Encircling the dial is a stunning ‘champlevé’ enamel ring in the vibrant hues of Only Watch 2023.
The movement is the Czapek Calibre 8, which was created in collaboration with Bernhard Lederer. It is open-worked and features a double escapement with differential, a screwed balance wheel, a power reserve indication (72 hours), two sapphire glass bridges, and hand-bevelling (anglage) on bridges and main plate.
The watch is presented on an alligator strap with a pin buckle. It is limited in production and will be auctioned off at Only Watch 2023. The proceeds will go to research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
