Last year, Tudor released a chronograph version of their beloved Black Bay, which paid homage to the brand’s rich history in chronograph production dating back to the 1970s. Now, just ahead of Geneva Watch Days, Tudor’s back with a fresh take on that same chronograph in a blue colorway. This new colorway follows the successful release of the Black Bay Chrono in pink panda configuration earlier this year.
This latest Black Bay Chrono has a 41mm x 14.4mm profile. The case is made from stainless steel, which maintains the series’ signature hefty look, but the updated colorway brings a new level of refinement. Some might find the dimensions a bit hefty, but the design stays true to Tudor’s style. The cohesive design is evident from the well-integrated chronograph pushers into the case.
Things become interesting when looking at the dial of this new model. It shows a dynamic domed blue sunburst finish that reflects and scatters the light. The chronograph features silver subdials against the blue backdrop for improved readability and an intriguing reversed panda aesthetic. The position of the date window at 6 o’clock helps to keep the design clean and symmetrical.
It is driven by Tudor’s reliable in-house MT5813 Caliber. The automatic movement ensures long-lasting operation with a power reserve of 70 hours. The Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) has certified the MT5813.
The Black Bay Chrono Blue, with a five-link stainless steel bracelet and T-fit quick-adjust clasp, costs € 5,720 and is only available at Tudor Boutiques worldwide.
