TAG Heuer’s done it again. They’ve sneakily dropped another gem, the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon “Blue Panda”. This follows last year’s 60th-anniversary Carrera Glassbox, which wowed with its refined, compact design. This new “Panda” takes it to the next level with a show-stopping tourbillon, building on the Glassbox’s success.
The watch comes in a 42mm x 14.3mm stainless steel case. It’s got that signature Tag Heuer glassbox crystal, which provides a vintage nod to the Carrera models of the 1970s while giving the watch a unique, almost futuristic look. The case itself is a mix of brushed and polished finishes with angular lugs, with a water resistance of 100 meters.
The “Blue Panda” lives up to its name with a striking white and blue color scheme. It’s a classic panda layout with a crisp white background and contrasting blue sub-dials. The white background has a circular-brushed finish, while the blue chronograph subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock are snailed and recessed. The blue flange around the dial features a 60-second/minute scale, highlighted by a bright red central chronograph seconds hand. Of course, the star of the show is the tourbillon at six o’clock. The hands and markers are nicely applied, and there’s just the right amount of lume for visibility.
Powering the Carrera “Blue Panda” is the in-house automatic Calibre TH20-09. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, this COSC-certified movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and offers a 65-hour power reserve.
This limited-edition watch, capped at just 50 pieces, comes with a blue perforated leather strap. Priced at €25,200, the Carrera “Blue Panda” is available exclusively in Europe.
