For over six decades, the TAG Heuer Carrera has reigned supreme in the world of motorsports-inspired watches. But within its illustrious lineage, few models capture the essence of refined elegance quite like the Carrera Dato. Now, in a bold move, TAG Heuer breathes new life into this vintage icon, adorning it with a brilliant splash of teal in the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Glassbox Dato and Glassbox Tourbillon.
Carrera Chronograph Glassbox Dato
Stepping onto the scene in a contemporary 39mm “Glassbox” case, the Dato is a study in contrasts. The bezel-less domed sapphire and angular lugs lend a modern edge, while the familiar Carrera elements like baton hands and applied indices take on a fresh persona on its radially brushed teal dial, dancing with the light in a mesmerizing interplay. A lone subdial at 3 o’clock keeps things minimal, while the date window takes its rightful place at 9.
Powering Glassbox Dato is the reliable TH20-07 movement with its 80-hour power reserve and smooth column-wheel chronograph.
Carrera Chronograph Glassbox Tourbillon
The Tourbillon takes things to the next level of technical prowess. Housed within the expansive 42mm “Glassbox” case, it pushes the boundaries of futuristic design with its expansive sapphire crystal. But the real showstopper lies at 6 o’clock: a mesmerizing tourbillon, framed in a polished ring but otherwise kept refreshingly simple.
The TH20-09 movement housed within, delivers 65-hour power reserve, while the semi-gloss black alligator leather strap adds a touch of classic sophistication.
The Dato is available now, priced at USD 6,550 and the Tourbillon, priced at USD 24,050, will arrive in May 2024.
