For the second year running Maurice Lacroix will be supporting the charity Movember which for the month of November encourages men to grow a moustache to raise awareness and raise funds to help the fight against men’s health issues such. To date, Movember have raised over £346 million and funded over 800 programmes in 21 countries.
For this year’s partnership Maurice Lacroix have released 3 limited editions of their excellent Pontos S diver which in my opinion is one of their best pieces, two limited editions of 14 timepieces each both come on a brown leather nato strap with the Movember motif embezzled on it with a nice deep black dial which is adorned with a good looking moustache, and one consisting of only two pieces that will not be available for sale.
The first set of 14 timepieces comes with an orange Movember moustache just above the date window that will be given to the best fundraiser in each of the 14 fundraising teams located in various places around the world so these will be a rare sight indeed.
The 2nd limited edition set of 14 will feature a white moustache on the dial and will be available exclusively from the official Maurice Lacroix website; the brand will donate all benefits from the sale to the Movember Foundation.
The 3rd piece in the limited edition is ONLY two pieces with the dial a nice crisp blue instead of black and comes with either bracelet or a vibrant blue NATO strap but will not be available for sale, instead, it will be given to one man chosen from the list of winners from all over the world. They will be crowned international man of Movember with the winner becoming the face of this year’s campaign, the second will be offered to Movember CEO Adam Garone.
For the rest of us who are not lucky enough or able to grow a stunning moustache the Pontos S diver is still available in its normal disguise which is a great diver’s watch. With its 43mm brushed compressor-style stainless steel case, water resistance of 600m, twin crowns with one to rotate the inner diving bezel other to set the time, Helium release valve is situated at 9pm and a date window at 6pm finishes off this piece nicely. The movement is a Selitta SW200 which is an ETA clone perfectly suited to a tool watch with a power reserve that should last a good 38 hours.
Conclusion
This is one cool diver’s piece and made even better because it’s for a very worthy men’s charity. I applaud Maurice Lacroix for their sponsoring of this event and the many thousands that grow a moustache to raise money and awareness for Movember Foundation each and every year.
