In the ever-evolving realm of accessible luxury sports watches, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon collection has consistently stood out for its integration of design and functionality. A couple of years ago, Maurice Lacroix unveiled the original Aikon Urban Tribe—a limited-edition timepiece adorned with urban architectural engravings on its case and bracelet components. It was based on the Aikon collection, which is known for its clean lines and sporty aesthetic. The latest addition to this lineage is the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe watch, a stunning amalgamation of the Aikon Skeleton’s openworked movement and the Aikon Urban Tribe’s engraved case and bracelet.
This watch combines the classic design of the Aikon with a skeletonized movement and a case and bracelet that are engraved with a modern tribal motif. The 39mm x 11mm case of the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe is a barrel-shaped stainless steel case that maintains the iconic design elements of the Aikon series such as the raised bezel with its characteristic six double-claws. However, what sets this timepiece apart is its meticulously engraved exterior. Drawing inspiration from modern architecture and Maori tattoos, the case and bracelet display an intricate pattern that adds a contemporary edge. Sapphire crystals cover the timepiece on both sides with a screw-down crown, offering a water resistance of 200 meters.
The dial of the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe is a sapphire plate that unveils the intricate inner workings of the watch’s movement. The skeletonized dial has a dark gray flange and features applied markers filled with Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility, while the luminous hands ensure accurate timekeeping even in low-light conditions. The transparent case back reveals a matte movement with an openworked oscillating weight, showcasing the watch’s mechanical artistry.
The movement in the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe is the automatic ML135, based on the Sellita SW200, that has a power reserve of 38 hours.
The Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe is available with an integrated stainless steel bracelet and engraved decoration, butterfly buckle and Easychange system. It is limited to 500 pieces with a price tag of USD 4,250.
