Summertime is here in full swing. The pool is crowded, vacation is next week for one of you lucky readers, and Nomos has brought another addition to their ever growing and increasingly impressive catalogue. Nomos prides itself on using bright color schemes and simple yet effective design elements, and the brand new Ahoi and Club watches will make for an interesting break in pace for the potential summer watch buyer. These two water resistant watches from their Aqua line provide a simple layout for the wearer, creating a perfect daily wear for you to enjoy all summer long.
Both the Ahoi and the Club remain true to their original designs. The dimensions remain identical to their forerunners, with the Ahoi coming in at a 36.3mm diameter case while the Club will measure 41.5mm. Inside of the Ahoi and the Club is the Nomos DUW 3001, one of their very own calibers that have a swing system escapement. Both will come fitted with a grey textile strap and as part of the Aqua line, they will both be water resistant to 200 meters.
The one glaring difference with the new Ahoi and Club watches is the exceedingly bright dial. Nomos has coined it as “siren white”, not unlike the blue and red dialed models from years past also dubbed as part of the siren color schemes. The dials feature the siren white background against burning red hour markers and numerals. Blue accents the hands, numerals, and the seconds on the sub dial. The Club also features a blue chapter ring around the outer edge of the dial.
I think Nomos has created a nice choice for someone who is on the search for a crossover piece that will suit both formal and casual occasions. The water resistance coupled with a smooth bezel helps make this one a winner. Nomos is best known for its Bauhaus design elements and simplistic layouts. They have been known for making their colors a little too loud in the past, but I find this new siren white addition to be quite appealing to the eye. If you have ever heard of Nomos, you know that you are getting an interesting watch that will be a little different from what everyone else is wearing in the room.
The new Ahoi will retail for $3,160 USD while the Club is $4,120. Both options will give the purchaser a great value for a summertime watch. While at a manageable size, these watches represent how out of the box watchmaking can be. Nomos makes a crisp and clean watch, I suggest you check out these new additions. Visit Nomos Glashütte here.
