Seiko is marking six decades of dive watch expertise with a trio of new Prospex releases. The 1965 and 1968 Diver’s Modern Re-Interpretations bring updated specs to familiar designs, while the Marinemaster ‘Shinkai’ takes things up a notch with serious saturation diving chops.
Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver 60th Anniversary
The SPB511 sticks to the classic Seiko diver aesthetic but bumps water resistance up to 300m. The 40mm x 13.0mm stainless steel case is topped with a unidirectional bezel, and the sapphire crystal covers a silver-white dial featuring a wave pattern inspired by Hokusai’s “Great Wave off Kanagawa.” Applied indices and hands are filled with Lumibrite for solid legibility. Inside, the automatic 6R55 movement delivers a 72-hour power reserve. It’s secured to the wrist on a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp. With a 6000 pieces availability, expect to pay around £1,270.
Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver GMT 60th Anniversary
A bit more rugged, the SPB509 measures 42mm x 13.3mm and carries over the 300m water resistance. It runs on the 6R54 movement, shares the same dial layout as the SPB511 but opts for a darker blue color with a wave texture. The stainless steel bracelet is similar to what SPB511 comes with. Also limited to 6000 pieces, it’s priced at US$1,750.
Seiko Prospex Marinemaster ‘Shinkai’ 60th Anniversary 600m Saturation Diver
Seiko’s high-end offering, the SLA081, steps up with a 45.4mm x 16mm titanium case with super-hard coating, a remarkable 600m water resistance, and the 8L45 automatic movement with 72h power reserve. The deep blue wave patterned dial gives a nod to extreme depths. Limited to 600 pieces, it’s priced at US$4,600 and ships with a titanium bracelet with super-hard coating.
