Seiko has announced four new additions to its popular Seiko 5 Sports collection, which is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year. The new models include a limited edition that pays homage to the original Seiko 5 Sports watch, as well as three non-limited watches that draw inspiration from vintage Seiko 5 Sports models.
The limited edition model, the SRPK17, features a case and bracelet that are faithful to the original Seiko 5 Sports watch, which was released in 1968. The watch has a 39.5mm x 12.5mm stainless steel case and bracelet. It is powered by the 4R36 automatic movement, which has a 41-hour power reserve. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters.
The three non-limited models, the SRPK09, SRPK11, and SRPK13, all have 42.5mm x 13.4mm stainless steel case and bracelet. They are powered by the same 4R36 automatic movement as the limited edition model. The SRPK09 has a silver dial, the SRPK11 has an orange dial, and the SRPK13 has a black dial. All three models are water resistant to 100 meters.
Seiko’s decision to introduce a new case for the limited edition and incorporate vintage-inspired colorways in the non-limited models demonstrates their commitment to honoring the brand’s heritage. The new additions to the Seiko 5 Sports collection provide a diverse range of options, blending the best of vintage design with contemporary features.
The new Seiko 5 Sports models are available now. The SRPK17 is limited to 15,555 pieces and has a MSRP of $450. The SRPK09, SRPK11, and SRPK13 are not limited and have an MSRP of $350.
