Snyper is another new player in the high-end luxury wristwatch game having been founded in 2008 by watchmaking enthusiasts who encountered a Special Forces Sniper and found in him, the motivation to start Snyper Watches.
In 2009, Snyper launched with a mission to manufacture a unique new style of high-end Swiss watches, based on a very unique design that combines watchmaking with a twist of military flair. In doing so, Snyper has created four distinct collections so far; Snyper One, Snyper Two, Snyper F117 Tourbillon and the Snyper Ironclad. All of these collections have been researched, manufactured and designed without compromise. Also unique to the brand are what is called Snyper Modules, which are lifestyle accessories for the budding entrepreneur and include a laser-pointer and cigar lighter.
Baselworld 2015 saw a number of new releases from Snyper but most notably the fact that Snyper has reduced the thickness of its case construction in the hopes to appeal to businessmen who can wear their Snyper timepiece tucked neatly under their suit. Here are the standout pieces that we saw from Snyper at Baselworld 2015.
Ironclad Yellow Edition
The Ironclad Yellow Edition was by far the best from Snyper at Baselworld 2015. The case has been constructed using stainless steel 316L/1.4435 finished in black PVD coating. It measures 53mm in diameter and has been machined from the block with a screw-down crown that has also been finished in black PVD brushed with graduation markings. The iconic Snyper target logo has also been engraved on the crown edge. The case is finished using sapphire crystal both dial side and on the caseback. Of course the 2 fixation bars are also present at 9 o’clock allowing the attachment of various Snyper Modules.
The dial is also finished in various shades of black and grey with a checkerboard design and a deep flange finished in yellow to offer a nice contrast against the black. Also featured on the dial is a day window at 3 o’clock and a date window at 4 o’clock. Of course it also has hours, minutes, seconds and chronograph functions along with the day/date function as well.
Tucked underneath the dial is the self-winding Snyper Calibre F101 Chrono Day/Date featuring 25 jewels beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. A customized oscillating rotor in Grey PVD is used adding another detail with a target logo in red front and centre to finish the piece off.
Snyper Two Orange Edition
The Snyer Two Orange Edition is a much more understated if not as colourful new addition when compared to the Ironclad Yellow Edition. The 50mm case has been constructed using the same 316L/1.4425 grade stainless steel in black PVD, it features the usual markings found on all Snyper watches including the Snyper logo on the screw-down crown. A sapphire crystal has been used to protect the dial with an engraved stainless steel caseback used to protect the movement. It also uses the same 2 fixation bars at 9 o’clock to allow the attachment of Snyper Modules.
The dial is a black carbon fibre with orange flange, orange second hand with day/date function at 3 o’clock. Also displayed are the hours, minutes and seconds.
Hidden within is the self-winding Snyper Calibre F100 – Day/Date with 24 jewels and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Also featuring a customized much like the one found on the Ironclad Yellow Edition with Grey PVD coating and red Snyper logo.
Snyper One Red Limited Edition
The Snyper One Red Limited is the last of our highlights from Snyper at Baselworld 2015. The 53mm case again has been constructed using the same stainless steel 316L grade material with black PVD coating machined from the block with a polished and circular brushed bezel. Unlike the Snyper Two, the Snyper One Red Limited Edition utilises sapphire crystal on both sides of the case with an added engraving on the caseback side. Again the case is finished with 2 fixation bars at 9 o’clock allowing Snyper Modules to be attached.
The dial is finished in black carbon fiber with red 3, 6, 9, 12 numbers and flange with a day window at 3 o’clock and date at 4 o’clock. Chronograph sub dials finished things off on the dial side of the piece.
Underneath the dial beats the self-winding Snyper Calibre F101 Chrono Day/Date once again just like the Ironclad Yellow Edition with the same customized oscillating rotor finished in Grey PVD with Snyper logo in red.
Each Snyper timepiece comes with a matching strap and pin buckle with 10ATM water resistance.
