We all know that Only Watch is the charity auction for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy right? I’ve typed it often enough at this point that it feels like everyone in the world knows it now. Anyway. Tiffany & Co is most known for making jewellery and printing its name on the dials of watches other people made. They do also make their own watches, and to mix that with their jewellery puts them on the level of Cartier, Chopard, Graff and many others.
Their newest piece is the Bird on a Rock pendant. It’s a new envisioning of a brooch made for Tiffany & Co. in 1965 by Jean Schlumberger with a bird sitting atop the pendant case. The case features a 34-karat aquamarine crystal with 4 18k gold prongs The dial has over 1 karat of diamonds on it, 461 snow-set diamonds. The bird itself is platinum with 18k gold feet, pink sapphire eyes and 3 karats of diamonds. A manually wound movement with a power reserve of 38 hours sits within the case, and there are two hands to display the time.
The pendant is secured with a 50cm 18k yellow gold chain with a total of 81 round brilliant cut diamonds.
Experts expect the price of this to be somewhere between 350,000 and 500,000 CHF, but we think it’ll go for nearly enough CHF1,000,000.
