Seems like the 1970s or 1980s music fans will have their way to a free AC/DC Limited Edition watch from Raymond Weil. Chances are high that you’ve listened to a few AC/DC hits on the radio and you don’t even have to be a die hard fan to enter the contest. Maybe you even sang to the Highway to Hell, Thunderstruck or You Shook Me All Night Long when they played on the radio. The watch though has in-your-face AC/DC theme so really it’s made for the fans.
The Raymond Weil Freelancer AC/DC Limited Edition is modified aesthetically in the Freelancer line and is part of the brand’s Music Icons series. The collection includes a David Bowie version, Bob Marley, The Beatles and more. The AC/DC logo rocks the dial at the top with the company’s name underneath. Continuing this rock n roll vibe are silver studded indices surrounding the perimeter. I like the dark AC/DC high voltage graphics and the way the designers finished the dial with a textured pattern ensuring that even if you don’t know the band, the dial itself tells a story that simply rocks. Also, the exposed standard regulator at 6:00 looks very nice resembling a tourbillon to the untrained eye. Overall, you get a time-only and no seconds hand but still the watch rocks. Moreover, the silver hour and minute hands have white luminescence in them making for an easy read.
The 42mm stainless steel case looks large but I’m not complaining. It also has sapphire crystals in front and back. Both the caseback and crown are screwed down making the watch water-resistant to 100m. The anti-reflective coating treated sapphire crystal in front makes reading really easy. Under the hood is a proprietary automatic Calibre RW1212 designed in collaboration with Swiss manufacturer, Sellita. It features 27 jewels and beats at 28,800 vph with 38 hours of power reserve. We can see through the exhibition caseback the rotor decorated with Côtes de Genève and the company’s name, with perlage on the bridges and plates.
The watch wears on black calf leather strap that has an embossed AC/DC logo and stainless steel folding clasp with a double push-security system and brown leather also lines the underside.
To win this Freelancer AC/DC Limited Edition, simply answer a few questions about the legendary rock band… for the non-die-hard-fan, google is your friend and should you pass the test, Raymond Weil will demand that you share the contest on social media and tag @RAYMONDWEIL. There are only 3,000 watches in the series each retailing for USD 1,995 making the contest worthwhile.
If there’s a watch that truly rocks, it’s the Raymond Weil Freelancer AC/DC Limited Edition. This piece is an exclusive tribute to a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend. The design is so cool and the black theme doesn’t affect legibility at all.
