The Odysseus is A. Lange & Söhne’s integrated sports watch. We were in Germany for the launch back in 2019 before the world went mad. We also got a full review of it, and we loved the design, movement and build quality. So did buyers, the Odysseus is still a highly sought-after model. A white gold version followed soon after, and for 2022, A. Lange & Söhne reveals their only sports watch in the sportiest of metals: titanium.

Being lighter and more durable than stainless steel, titanium makes the most sense if the point of your watch is to be worn every day on all occasions. Titanium is even more resistant to scratching than stainless steel, although the hardness which gives it this ability also makes machining it much more difficult. I can only imagine that there are some stories in the factory of tools being broken or replaced rather quickly after working with titanium, but the finished product is worth it.

It’s not majorly different from the stainless steel models. The only difference is the dial. It has a similar finish to the blue dial of the stainless watch, but it’s a light grey colour instead. You still get the day and date functions balancing each other out on opposite sides of the dial. These are controlled by the two pushers surrounding the crown.

Inside the watch is the same calibre, the automatic L155.1 DATOMATIC, with extremely high finishing levels and plenty of engraving, striping and polishing all-round. It runs at 4Hz and is good for 50-hours.

This watch is limited to 250 examples at a price of €55,000, including VAT. Visit A. Lange & Söhne here.
