IWC and Mercedes-AMG have collaborated once more to create two new Big Pilot’s Watches inspired by the G-Class SUV. The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63 comes in two case materials: 18-carat Armour Gold and ceramic matrix composite (CMC). Both models have a black dial with a power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock and a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock. The subdials are inspired by the G-Class’s headlights, and the dial texture is inspired by the air intakes of Mercedes-AMG performance cars.

The 46.2mm x 14.4mm Armor Gold case is made from IWC’s proprietary alloy, which is harder and more wear-resistant than conventional 5N gold. The CMC case is made in collaboration with the German Aerospace Center and is the first IWC timepiece to feature this material. CMC is lighter and stronger than carbon fiber, and it is also resistant to thermal shocks.

The black dial has a relief-like technical structure inspired by the air intakes of Mercedes-AMG performance cars. The appliqués are black PVD-coated and filled with luminous material. The date window is at 6 o’clock and features color-matched text.

Both models are powered by the IWC-manufactured caliber 52010, which has an astonishing 7-day power reserve. The movement is visible through a tinted sapphire glass caseback, which features a Mercedes-Benz star and is reminiscent of the spare wheel cover on the rear of the G-Class.

Both models are outfitted with a black rubber strap that features a microfiber inlay and a deployant clasp. The Armour Gold IWC Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63 costs $33,400 USD, while the CMC model costs $42,400 USD.
