By Jovan Krstevski

So here’s another Rolex entry for Baselworld 2018 and this watch showcases the brand’s cutting-edge technology in watchmaking. The New Rolex Deepsea watch also introduces a refreshed case with a broader bracelet and resized Oysterlock folding safety clasp all for convenience and performance of course.

Moving forward, let us talk about the new Rolex powerhouse, the Calibre 3235 showcasing the might of Rolex. While, the new generation movement is entirely new and developed primarily and manufactured by Rolex, we can only surmise about its true performance in the real world. When profitability and honesty from the company are one of the basis for this kind of assumption and not real data, it is kind of opinionated so better have a real feel of the watch instead. Being a Rolex, I know for sure that the technology speaks for itself. I see the brand as an embodiment of the art of watchmaking, maybe bias but aren’t you?

Furthermore, this self-winding mechanical movement has improved precision and increased power reserve. The build has also better protection against shocks and magnetism adding for a long-term value. In simplest words, I say convenience and reliability are perfectly in harmony here.

On the technical side, the Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex is superb. Its efficiency is its selling point. Its one of a kind accuracy is courtesy of the patented blue Parachrom hairspring in an exclusive paramagnetic alloy that is 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks.

Moving to the oyster case, it looks great at 44 mm. The unidirectional bezel is fitted with a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom insert in black ceramic, a corrosion-resistant and virtually scratch proof material. Rolex guarantees that it is easy to manipulate even with gloves. Additionally, the screw down crown features a Triplock triple waterproofing system ensuring water resistance down to 3,900 m.

Finally, the black dial features a highly legible Chromalight display with long-lasting blue luminescence, looking perfect under the domed 5.5 mm-thick scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The 70 hours of power reserve is impressive more so the Oystersteel bracelet with folding Oysterlock safety clasp with Rolex Glidelock extension system. The Fliplock extension link ensures variability in multiple settings. The New Rolex Deepsea watch also carries an official certification, Superlative Chronometer (COSC + Rolex certification after casing). Price for the Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller ref. 126660 will be $12,550 for the D-blue dial, and $12,250 for the black. For more info, visit Rolex online.
