Carl F. Bucherer recently unveiled the Manero Flyback Signature, a fun and colorful watch created in collaboration with renowned Swiss writing instrument manufacturer Caran d’Ache. This new watch features a dial that showcases vivid, colorful accents inspired by colors found on Caran d’Ache pencils. Also developed as a part of this association is a Caran d’Ache Signature rollerball pen equipped with a silver-coated body with deep “crown effect” engraving, which would be a part of this limited-edition watch package.

Making use of multiple colors on the same dial can be a tricky affair, but Carl F. Bucherer’s implementation on the Manero Flyback Signature is one of the best I have come across. Presented with a silverish white face and a twin-register setup, the applied indices on this watch have been rendered in several colors making for a lively and playful dial. The two registers at 3 and 9 have been presented in a dark grey shade, offering a nice contrast to the light background. Furthermore, both registers, have been nicely sunken to provide a sense of depth. The minute track is printed in black, and like previously released models, there is a tachymeter scale on the outer periphery. The skeletonized sword-shaped hands are well proportioned, and the chronograph hands have been highlighted in red to segregate them from normal timekeeping. Finally, there is a date window at 6 that helps keep the symmetry of the dial intact.

Made from stainless steel, the case measures 43mm in diameter and has a thickness of around 14.4mm to the top of the double-domed sapphire crystal. The case is well finished and exhibits a nice mix of brushed and polished surfaces. The two pump-style chronograph pushers lend the watch a sporty vibe, and the knurled crown should make it a joy to wind the movement as and when required. The case is water-resistant to just 30 meters which means you are better off staying away from the pool with this beauty on your wrist.

Turning the watch over reveals the automatic calibre CFB 1970. This movement has been developed in association with movement maker La Joux-Perret, and it features a column wheel with a flyback function. The movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers an autonomy of around 42 hours. The movement has been nicely decorated and can be appreciated through the sapphire case back.

The new Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Signature is limited to just 188 pieces. The watch comes attached to a red and beige fabric strap which is made from 100% recycled PET and would come packaged inside a  special wooden box which would also contain an eco-friendly travel pouch that can hold an extra strap as well as a writing instrument. The retail price of this watch is USD 7,200.
