Chopard has continued to make waves in the world of luxury sports watches with the latest addition to its Alpine Eagle collection, the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono with a Maritime Blue Dial. This watch, released exclusively in Chopard boutiques, builds on the legacy of the St. Moritz watch from the 1980s, reimagining it for the 21st century while adding a touch of maritime charm to the already impressive chronograph.

Alpine Eagle XL Chrono’s case is a robust 44mm in diameter and 13mm in height, constructed from Chopard’s proprietary Lucent A223 steel, known for its durability, anti-allergenic properties and high reflectivity. Water-resistant to 100 meters, the case features a combination of brushed and polished surfaces alongside the classic elements of luxury sports watches, including a barrel-shaped middle case, a distinctive bezel with screws, and an integrated lug design.

However, the real attraction in this watch is the dial which is a showstopper, featuring a sunburst motif inspired by an eagle’s iris. This vibrant “Maritime Blue” dial is reminiscent of the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea and is adorned with rhodium-plated applied numerals and hour markers filled with Grade XI Super-LumiNova along with black printed scales. The chronograph’s hands have striking orange tips, and the tachymeter scale is accented with orange graduations for some vibrant contrast. The result is a dial that leaves a lasting impression and is a visual delight to behold.

Powering this timepiece is the Chopard in-house Calibre 03.05-C, a COSC-certified automatic flyback chronograph movement with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Operating at a frequency of 28,800vph and featuring an open-worked tungsten rotor, it offers a substantial 60-hour power reserve. The unidirectional gear drive system ensures efficient energy transfer and quick automatic winding.

The watch is completed with a black rubber strap with a titanium insert, designed to mimic the appearance of the metal bracelet. It tapers slightly and includes a raised central cap for a secure fit while complementing the watch’s sporty elegance. This strap is also available for the classic black and dark blue versions of the watch.

The Alpine Eagle XL Chrono Maritime Blue is available as a boutique-exclusive model and is priced at EUR 20,800.
