Luxury watch retailer Bucherer is known for giving watches a unique look through its signature blue treatment. Not so long ago we showed you the IWC Portugieser Bucherer Blue Edition and joining the Bucherer family now is the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar Bucherer Edition. Clad in blue this new watch presents a sportier and colorful take on a classic timepiece.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Glashütte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar has always been an elegant looking watch, but Bucherer has some made some significant changes to give it a slightly casual outlook. First up, you have the playful blue textured dial which replaces the more formal looking white/silvery clothing we are more used to seeing on the Senator Perpetual watches. The next big change comes in the form of the sharp-looking applied markers which combined along with the dauphine handset give the watch a contemporary vibe. Looks aside, the watch still displays the information in a familiar highly legible layout that the Senator Perpetual Calendar has always been known for.
To complement the blue dial Bucherer has gone with a stainless-steel construction. The case measures a rather large 42mm in diameter and features a nice mix of brushed and polished surfaces. There is a sapphire crystal on both the front and the back and the watch is water-resistant to 50 meters. Powering this watch is Glashütte Original’s in-house calibre 36-02. This is an automatic movement that comprises of 49 jewels and operates at a frequency of 4Hz. It offers an impressive power reserve of 100 hours and is Chronometer certified which would ensure highly accurate time-keeping. It features an antimagnetic silicon escapement and offers a multitude of functions including Panorama data, leap year and moon phase indication, day of the week, the month of the year and normal hours, minutes and seconds. The movement has been beautifully decorated and can be viewed in all its glory through the exhibition case back.
The Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar Bucherer Edition is a watch that manages to look elegant with just the right amount of sportiness making it a great daily wear option. The watch would be limited to 50 pieces and would be sold exclusively at Bucherer stores. It would come attached to black rubber strap and would retail for EUR 20,000.
