Introducing The Richard Mille RM 07-01 Automatic Carbon TPT Ladies Watch

BY DHANANJAY PATHAK

Richard Mille is a brand well known for producing high-quality mechanical timepieces which are created using Avant-garde materials making them capable of handling extreme situations which a normal mechanical watch would shy away from. Interestingly the brands women’s watches also get the same treatment and today we will have a look at one of them. So here it is especially for all the ladies out there the latest version of the Richard Mille RM 07-01 which not only has the case but also a new bracelet made from TPT carbon.

The RM 07-01 has a Tonneau-shaped case and heavy usage of carbon gives it a lot of rigidity and a unique texture making it look like nothing else out there. But apart from the looks carbon is a material which also adds lightness to the case which means that it should be able to sit comfortably on the wrist for a longer duration. So, when Richard Mille decided to attach this case to a bracelet the choice of material could not have been anything but Carbon TPT. The bracelet comprises of 200 parts which include dozens of Carbon TPT plates which have been placed over a Grade 5 titanium framework and secured by spline screws. It took around 13 months to complete the development and it seems to have provided the Tonneau case a seamless extension. And finally, to put things into perspective the entire bracelet including the folding clasp weight just 29 grams. Now that really is lightweight. Isn’t it?

The dial on the RM 07-01 is well executed and has a familiar layout. Present at the center is a black dial which nicely matches the look of the case. Surrounding the main dial plate is a transparent section which gives a slight view of the mechanical underpinnings of this watch. On the outermost periphery is a combination of droplet-shaped lume filled applied markers and a printed minute track. Time can be read using the sword shaped handset which has also been filled with luminous paint for enhanced low light visibility.

Powering the watch is Richard Mille’s Caliber CRMA2 which is an automatic movement that operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and is equipped with a variable inertia balance wheel and also has a  variable geometry rotor which allows it to be set according to the owner’s activity level.

In all the new Richard Mille RM 07-01 is a bold and aggressive women’s sports watch which looks quite cohesive equipped with the new Carbon TPT bracelet. The watch would retail at a price of EUR 216,000.
